Pessimistic Love

Love is just a four letter word
That stands for emotions we feel
A rush of adrenaline and brief happiness
Hormones that persuade us “it’s” real

Love is something we heartily cling to
And succumb to its seductive conformity
We love to jump, even if short lived
After that damn romantic ideology

You want to believe there’s one person out there
Who is sweet, loving, honest, and true
You want that perfect “movie love”
That’s passionate and all the other shit too

And if you find that someone whose worthy
You force yourself to believe it’s pure
You settle with them ebcause it’s comfortable and safe
Hoping that what you think is love will endure

Love is a word we’ve associated with meaning
And in the end a waste of time
It’s full of lying, stealing, and cheating
But it’s worth being convicted of this crime

Excuses

(Night before) When the bright sun rises
I’ll mow the front yard to make mom happy.
(Day of) I’ll mow the front yard later
After black clouds are gone
I’ll mow the front yard later
After I’m done singing
I’ll mow the front yard later
When I have put away spoons and forks
I’ll mow the front yard later
After I’ve eaten a ripe banana
I’ll mow the front yard later
Whe I’ve dyed my hair blonde
I’ll mow the front yard later
Once I watch Romeo and Juliet
I’ll mow the front yard later
If I can make a paper swan
I’ll mow the front yard later
Oh mother, you must have faith in me!
I’ll mow the front yard later
When I have shrunk my waistline
I’ll mow the front yard later
But I have to tend to the chores around me first!
I’ll mow the front yard later
Haven’t I repeated myself enough, Ma?
When the black clouds are gone
I’ll mow the front yard later.
Just let me drink a beer or two
I’ll mow the front yard later.
But it looks like it’s dark out
I’ll mow the front yard later
I thin I just cut my hand.
I’ll mow the front yard later
Let me cool down
I’ll mow the front yard later
I am tired, I’m going to sleep
(Next day) Good morning, what a beautiful day!
I’ll mow the front yard later.

Deceiving Best Friend

I’m so glad to have a best friend like you
People told me you’d leave or disappear
But I didn’t believe them.
Instead you make me happy and feel
Responsible.
Every time I see your green eyes and paper thin body
My shoulders lift themselves and my lips curve up
In the shape of an orange peel.
You are the result of my dedicated
Diligence.
You sing to me whenever we go to stores
And hold my hand when I’m unsure about a purchase.
You help me make the right decisions in predicaments,
Though sometimes you are like a baby and crawl
Everywhere.
When you get annoying, I give you to other people.
Though I love counting the ways we have fun
Your greed gets the best of you
It’s just easiest if I leave you in a special place I know is
Safe
Our fun is always short lived because
You tempt me with your seductive whispers
Saying “Everything is going to be ok; there’s
Enough of me to go around.”  But you’re wrong.
Damn you, Money.

Mike

I love the way you make me laugh
And when your chin moves when you sing
I love it when you try to dance
And mess up everything

I love the way I try to be mad
When in fact you've done nothing wrong
I even love it when you play
That damn Rihanna song

I love the sound effects you make
And how you're weird like me
I love how we have nothing in common
But you still make me happy

I love it when you talk seriously
And when you get a little rough
I love it how you're like an addiction
I can never get enough

I love it when you show your jealousy
Just a little so I know you care
I love the same crappy shirts you own
And that messy head of hair

I love every imperfection on you
And you you see me for who I am
I love the way we bicker and joke
And this teasing love we cannot plan

I love it when you hold me tight
And never let me predict you
I love the way you keep me guessing
Dammit Mike, I just love you.

**HAHA WHICH MIKE IS IT

The Window

Sit in class
All day long.
Hot,
Cramped,
Craving to get out.
Staring at
that clear window
that yells
"Freedom!"
Wiping my forehead
Relieving moist
Condensation
Secreting
From my hot flesh.
My eyes
opening, closing
opening, closing
Like my mouth does
When I speak.
One image
Repeating,
appearing in my head
two hands
touching big,
black
numbers.
refusing
to give
to offer
to loan
me the least amount
of time
to breathe
pure air.
oh, time
goes
so
slow
knocking
knocking
the window
whispering,
"Remove this barrier
let me fill this humid room
with my windy words"
No more can I
stay.
No more can I
Stare.
No more can I
sweat.
Screw what others think
of my hastiness.
Eager eyes,
thumping heart,
clammy hands
on the locks;
unlocking---
forcing dusty window
upward,
head's out..
Finally, that
longed for zephyr
rushes through me
cooling,
calming,
freeing.

The bond of friendship

Remember that tree we used to climb
Held up by the hardened ground and time
Even through the stormiest weather
The base of it still stayed together
When younger trees grew up around it
It still stood tall just like we found it
Its drained branches are now old and worn
Its gray moss and bark faded and torn
It reminds me of our strong, weathered bond
And when we leave, this tree will carry on

Coffee

Coffee is the one thing
That has never let me down
It is a muted lover
Who knows just what to do
When to do it, how to do it, and why
And never asks questions
Nor waits for me to tell it what to do
It always warms my cold soul in the winter
And doesn't get mad if I shove my frigid feet
Underneath it during a movie
It rids the salty sweat from my brow in the summer
And doesn't sit on the couch
Refusing to take me out to dinner, while
Drinking another beverage of choice...
It makes me happy no matter what
And gives me an adrenaline rush to keep me awake
It doesn't beg, bitch, brag, belittle, or bellow
Coffee is the perfect muted, stable fellow
